Nicola Way has been massaging animals for almost two decades, providing relief from torn ligaments, over-used muscles, trapped nerves, herniated discs, neurological conditions, arthritis and more, as well as assisting with post-operative recovery.

Nicola provides a comprehensive range of massage and rehabilitation services specific to each canine and equine client.

She is trained in deep tissue massage through the Northwest School of Animal Massage and is accredited in functional indirect techniques including cranio-sacral and osteopathic modalities, manual ligament therapy, myofascial trigger point therapy, acupressure and has recently become certified in Animal Rehabilitation from The College of Animal Physiotherapy in the UK for which she achieved Distinction.

In 2015 she became a FitPAWS(R) Master Trainer using the specialized equipment to aid in rehabilitation as well as for fitness and conditioning, and she qualified as a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer in 2017 through the University of Tennessee.

She utilizes both low-level laser and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy as an adjunct to massage. Both work at a cellular level and are particularly effective for soft tissue and bone degeneration (including arthritis) and trauma. Veterinarians in North America became the first health professionals to use PEMF therapy to heal fractured bones in race horses, and it is FDA approved. Health Canada granted a class II medical device license to the iMRS (from Swiss Bionic), which is the product that Nicola uses.

Nicola continues to hold workshops and speaks at seminars in Canada, the US and the UK; most notably she was invited by Professor Noel Fitzpatrick as one of five guest speakers to participate at his FORWARD symposium in Britain in 2017.

All sessions are carried out in the client’s own home or barn to maximize relaxation and minimize stress for the pet.

Nicola is based in Vancouver and her client base ranges from Westside to Eastside, North Vancouver to the Fraser River. 

She is a proud member of the BC Association of Animal Massage and BodyWork Professionals and International Association of Animal Therapists.
