For the past 17 years, Nicola Way of Vancouver Animal Massage has provided therapeutic massage and rehabilitation for animals experiencing muscular degeneration and neurological deficiencies.
She is trained primarily in deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and manual ligament therapy but also utilizes cranio-sacral and osteopathic techniques. Nicola combines a wealth of experience in contributing to the recovery process of dogs in need of rehabilitation as well as those with specific pre - and post-surgical conditions, optimizing sporting dogs' physical performances, and enhancing the general well-being of all small animals through influencing positive changes.
She is also a FitPAWS Master Trainer using specialized equipment to improve flexibility and strength as part of a rehabilitation regime, as well as being a Certified Canine Fitness Trainer through the University of Tennessee.
All rehabilitation exercises are performed with authorisation from the referring veterinarian.
Massage can help in maintaining an animal's level of health and fitness by decreasing muscular tension, assist in rehabilitation from an injury or illness, improve proprioception for those with neurological deficits, and contribute to reducing mental anxiety.
Working animals, elderly pets, healthy athletic animals and companion animals, all benefit from a regular massage routine.
Nicola is an international speaker at conferences and workshops in Canada and the U.K..
